Action

Drotaverinum which is active ingredient of medicine removes a spasm of smooth muscles of gastrointestinal, bile-excreting, urinogenital and vascular systems. Strengthens blood circulation in fabrics thanks to the ability to expand vessels. Effectively affects smooth muscles of both nervous, and muscular origin.

Structure

Active ingredient: Drotaverinum; 1 tablet, film coated, contains Drotaverinum of a hydrochloride 40 mg.

Excipients: magnesium stearate, talc, K25 povidone, starch corn, lactoses monohydrate; cover: polyvinyl alcohol which is partially hydrolyzed; talc; titan dioxide (E171); macrogoal 4000; soy lecithin; quinolinic yellow aluminum varnish (E104); ferrous oxide yellow (E172).

Antispasmodics influence unstriated muscles and eliminate the pain caused by a spasm. Spasmolysant Drotaverinum is used in gastroenterology, therapy, urology and gynecology in many countries of the world.

• Gastroenterology. In this sphere, medicine is appointed at the spastic pain accompanying pathology of biliary tract – cholelithiasis, sharp or chronic cholecystitis, a cholangitis, etc.
• Urology. Inflammatory processes in bodies of urination (cystitis, a pyelitis) can also lead to spasms therefore use of Drotaverinum at these diseases is quite justified.
• tension Headaches. Drotaverinum can be used also for treatment of headaches of tension as in this case there are muscular and vascular components.

Indications

As auxiliary treatment at:

• gynecologic diseases (dysmenorrhea).
• spasms of smooth muscles of digestive tract: a peptic ulcer of a stomach and a duodenum, gastritis, kardio and/or a pylorospasm, enteritis, colitis, a spastic colitis with a constipation and the syndrome of the angry intestines which is followed by a meteorism;
• a headache of tension;

With the medical purpose at:

• spasms of smooth muscles connected with diseases of a biliary path: cholecystolithiasis, cholangiolithiasis, cholecystitis, pericholecystitis, cholangitis, papillitis;
• spasms of smooth muscles at diseases of an uric path: nephrolithiasis, ureterolithiasis, pyelitis, cystitis, bladder tenesmus.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to Drotaverinum or to any component of medicine. Heavy liver, renal or heart failure (syndrome of small warm emission).

Route of administration and doses

Adult: the usual average dose makes 2 tablets in 3 receptions a day.

For children of 6-12 years: the maximum daily dose – 2 tablets a day.

For children over 12 years: 4 tablets a day.

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast

Pregnancy. Results of retrospective clinical trials showed that oral administration of medicine did not cause any signs of any direct or indirect impact on pregnancy. However pregnant women need to appoint medicine with care.

Feeding by a breast. Due to the lack of data during feeding by a breast use of medicine is not recommended.

Storage conditions
